Some people claim that competition in the workplace, school, and daily life is beneficial. Others argue that people should work as a team instead of viewing others as rivals.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
On the one hand, supporters of an environment where individuals compare themselves with each other provide some arguments. Firstly, they believe that having opponents encourages people to achieve their goals. For example, if students compare themselves with their peers, they may study diligently. Secondly, everyone has a sense of nudging, which means individuals are willing to be the best among their peers, thus, they work harder.
On the other hand, some believe working as part of a team is superior. They argue that in a team, members help each other to achieve their goals, which is a part of teamwork skills. For instance, in my country, everyone has a responsibility in household chores and they help each other to finish the work. Moreover, if individuals divide each task among members of a team, the task will be finished faster. For example, when I was a university student, I intended to publish a paper in a well-known journal. While I had no prior experience, I teamed up with a Ph.D. student and the project was completed very quickly.
In conclusion, although some feel competing with others in daily life leads to good results, I believe the benefits of teamwork outweigh comparing oneself with others. As far as I am concerned, teamwork provides a situation where both sympathy is fostered among members and tasks are completed faster.
